Ms. Omoju Thomas Miller omojuthomas@hotmail.com will be serving as the TA for this course.  She is easy to talk with so please use her as an additional resource during the semester.  Her office number is ES 223.  Her office hours are  T, R 9:00 – 1:00 and M, W, F  9:00 – 11:00, 1:00 – 3:00.

Read chapter 1 of the textbook.  Be sure you understand the format discussed in class for submitting all homework assignments.  Print the slides for the chapter discussions and bring them with you to class to take notes on them.

Assignment 1 is due 1/26/06.  Read chapter 2 of the textbook.  Be sure you have access to a computer that has the rational rose student software (a zip file hyperlink for the rational rose student version is provided on the syllabus).

For each slide set, it is recommended that you "download presentation source" then view and print it using MicroSoft Powerpoint.

Skip chapter 3 for now.  Read sections 5.4.6, 5.4.7, and 5.4.8 and chapter 4.  Homework solutions are now available here.  Assignment 3 is due 2/7/06.

New slides are now available for chapter 4: file1, file2.  Assignment 4 is due 2/9/06 and assignment 5 is due 2/14/06.  

It is strongly recommended that you bring your book to future classes as several of the subsequent lectures will discuss some of the figures in the textbook and these figures may not be included in copies of the slides.

Assignment 6 is due 2/21/2006. Assignment 7 is due 2/23/2006.  New slides for chapter 5 are now available.  There are some duplicate slides among these and some of the slides will not be discussed in class. A state chart for the following use case was worked in class.

Exam 1 will be Tuesday, 2/28/2006 (closed book and closed notes).

Assignment 8 and 9 are due 3/23/2006.  Example data flow diagrams were presented in class.  Read chapter 6.

The final project is due no later than Monday, May 1, 2006 at 9am.  There is a possibility to do an alternative project; however, a description of your proposed alternative project with detail similar to final project must be submitted by 3/28/2006.  If the alternative project proposal is not as detailed as the (default) project description, it will be rejected and you will have to do final project.

Read chapters 8 and 9.  Exam #2 will be Thursday, April 20.  If a higher score is obtained on the final exam then it will be used to replace the grade of Exam #1 or Exam #2 (but not both).
